Houston-based Next Financial Group Inc., an independent wealth management firm, has been acquired.

Next Financial Group, as well as its sister companies Next Financial Insurance Services Co. and 4WARD Financial Marketing Inc., were acquired by Atria Wealth Solutions, a New York City-based wealth management solutions holding company, according to a June 3 press release. The acquisition of Next and its sister firms adds more than 500 independent advisers collectively managing assets of nearly $13 billion to Atria.

Following the completed acquisition, Atria now serves nearly 2,000 advisers with approximately $65 billion in assets under management across its four broker-dealer subsidiaries.
